Cryptowall Virus – Removal Instructions
Cryptowall is a new variant of the virus Cryptodefense, and it is a dangerous computer virus that needs to be taken off the computer immediately. The same cyber criminals responsible for creating ransomware such as Cryptorbit and Cryptolocker created Cryptowall. What is ransomware? Randomware shuts down a computer by locking access to important files. It then says that the individual must pay a specified amount of money to unlock their computer. Never pay the requested ransom because it supports the scam. Windows users need to use extra caution because all versions of Windows Browsers are vulnerable to Cryptowall browser hijack.
The virus enters the computer using legitimate updates for leading programs such as Java, Flash Player and Adobe Reader, and when visiting corrupted websites, it downloads the virus. Removing Cryptowall is not an easy task, so it is best left to the professionals. One of the common problems associated with Cryptowall is the wide range of format files it can infect. They include .jpg, .doc, .xls and .png. Additionally, this virus can come from an email. That has been the most common means of infection for Cryptowall. Once this Trojan accesses a person’s system, all personal information and files are no longer safe.
When the system has been infected, an RSA-2048 encryption will code all the files of data, and it blocks a user’s access to the files. After this has been done, they tell people that in order to restore their files, they have to pay a $500 ransom. The ransomware continues by saying that people have to transfer the payment using Tor, which is an anonymous Web browser. While using Tor, it tells them to pay using Bitcoins. Hackers and cyber criminals want people to use this system because it hides their identity. The majority of Cryptowall cases are from corrupted spam letters.
When downloaded to a computer, the infected folders say: Decrypt_instruction.txt, decrypt_instruction.html and decrypt_instruction.url. This occurs to every folder that has been infected, and the ransomware starts to show a message that says, “All files had been protected by a strong encryption with RSA-2048 using Cryptowall. The structure and data of your files can never be changed, and you will not be able to work with them or read them. It is the same as losing these files forever. Nevertheless, with our help, you can restore these files.” It then continues by trying to get people to pay $500 in Bitcoins, and they threaten that after a deadline, the payment will double. Don’t fall for this because it is only a virus and a scam to con people out of their hard-earned money.
