Spyware Defender Virus – Removal Instructions
Spyware Defender is one of the more recent rogue anti-virus programs. Spyware Defender is a highly malicious software that is part of a malware collection called Rogue.FakeVimes. It looks quite similar to several other phony applications like Windows Internet Watchdog, Windows Pro Defence Kit and Windows Internet Guard. This program poses as a free trial edition of a legitimate security tool, but its only goal is to deceptively extort cash from PC owners. It doesn’t really have the ability to remove other viruses or perform any beneficial tasks.
Spyware Defender primarily affects computers that run Microsoft Windows Vista, XP, Seven or Eight. It reaches users’ PCs through several different methods. Bundled software, email spam, social networks, hacked websites and file-sharing services can spread this virus. The download and/or installation often occurs without a user’s permission. After Spyware Defender is placed on a computer’s hard disk drive, a variety of problems begin to occur.
Although Spyware Defender mimics the appearance of a typical anti-virus utility, all of its actions are harmful. Spyware Defender causes icons to disappear, stops existing programs from working and makes the operating system slow down or freeze. Web browsers and real anti-virus programs often cease to function, and additional viruses may be installed. Spyware Defender displays fake warnings and runs a phony virus scan in an effort to convince people that other malware exists on their computers.
The goal of Spyware Defender is to make the PC so difficult to use that people pay its fee. Sadly, scam operators often repeatedly target individuals who send them money. To install the full edition of Spyware Defender, this malicious software demands that the computer owner pay about $50 to $100. Paying this ransom doesn’t give the user any protection. Instead, it rewards the criminals who created Spyware Defender and puts users’ financial accounts at risk.
