VaultCrypt Virus – Removal Instructions
VaultCrypt is a ransomware virus that was specifically created to attack computers running on Microsoft Windows. A ransomware is a new kind of virus that hostages computers by infecting them and then asking for payment to recover files. There is a deadline when the hackers ask victims to pay so they will retrieve the files. However, when the deadline is not met, VaultCrypt proposes to do it themselves using the internet.
The charge is more expensive than the bitcoin payments that they are originally asking for. VaultCrypt is like a leading ransomware because it has earned millions of dollars, especially during its first two months in the industry of viruses. A survey done by the researchers from the University of Kent says that more than 40% are British victims who paid the VaultCrypt ransom. Afterwards they find out something much worse. Perhaps, a good thing to remember is that an enemy that offers help only offers more problems that are disguised as solutions.
VaultCrypt spreads via emails as attachments. It places itself in a user profile folder, making it look like a normal file that you forgot where you got it. It will then contact the servers in the computer, and once the connection is made, the problem starts. Once activated, VaultCrypt will scan all the files in the computer, including removable drives if there are some connected, so even that backup drive you have isn’t safe when VaultCrypt spreads the disease.
After VaultCrypt is done scanning, the files are now inaccessible, and hoping that shutting the computer will dissolve the VaultCrypt problem is not wise at all. The user will have to unlock the files, but how? As stated above, there is a ransom fee. Aside from the payment required, VaultCrypt even threats the victim to delete the private key when the deadline passes. But then again, never ever trust hackers’ offer of help because it’s just another bigger problem coming down your way.
