Windows Antivirus Adviser Virus – Removal Instructions
Windows Antivirus Adviser is a rogue antivirus program that targets computers running the Windows operating system. The virus is considered rogue because it looks like a real antivirus program even though it is not. The Windows Antivirus Adviser virus can get into a targeted computer without the user knowing through emails and compromised websites. Once the virus is on a computer, it will act like a legitimate virus protection software and start to scan the infected computer. Windows Antivirus Adviser will then show results that some files, usually hundreds of them, are infected, even though the files are not actually compromised.
The Windows Antivirus Adviser virus will then show that the user has to pay a fee to get access to the full Windows Antivirus Adviser program in order to remove or fix the infected files. The fee should never be paid, as the virus is designed to scare users into thinking their computers have hundreds of infected files so that they will pay the fee. Once a user does pay for the Windows Antivirus Adviser virus, it will then have access to the credit card information used, resulting in possible identity fraud or credit card theft. Also, paying the fee will not remove Windows Antivirus Adviser, leaving the virus capable of spreading to other files on the computer.
Once the Windows Antivirus Adviser virus is downloaded onto a computer, it should be removed as quickly as possible. While it pretends to be an antivirus program, it is infecting files and destroying the Windows operating system in the background. Windows Antivirus Adviser embeds itself in certain folders on the computer so that it cannot be detected by legitimate antivirus programs. Once it has gained access to the files, it will automatically run whenever the computer is turned on and loads. The virus will cause the computer system to stop working properly and will destroy uninfected files. Windows Antivirus Adviser also prevents the user from running programs on the computer as long as it is infected.
It will show bogus pop-up messages saying that malware has been detected and it will prevent the programs from running. The virus does this to prevent legitimate antivirus software from detecting and removing the threat of Windows Antivirus Adviser from the computer. If the rogue Windows Antivirus Adviser virus is left on a computer long enough, it will cause additional damage to the computer and allow additional malware and viruses to be downloaded without the users’ knowledge. The computer will have constant running errors and will eventually stop working completely.
